SILAKAN SEDOT...

Dattebayo

Join Dattebayo at Otakon for the "Fansubber and Industry Discussion" [UPDATED]

2008/08/05

Join Dattebayo, along with Live-Evil and other fansubbers, as we engage in a new format panel at Otakon 2008 in Baltimore this weekend.

This year, representatives of Dattebayo, along with staff from several other fansubbing groups, will engage in a live, moderated discussion with anime industry staff Lance Heiskell, Director of Marketing at FUNimation, and John Sirabella, CEO of Media Blasters, about fansubbing.

This new format panel will be the one of the only times industry personnel and fansubbing staff have engaged in a public discussion about anime. We think it will be interesting and well worth your time at the convention.

The panel takes place at Otakon 2008 on Saturday August 9 at 5:30 PM in panel room 4 and is scheduled to run an hour and a half. There will be a period of time allotted for questions and answers.

As a special bonus, if you happen to run across one of the several Dattebayo staff members that will be attending the convention, we will have a limited number of DB buttons to give out to our fans/enemies. In addition, assuming FedEx comes through, we will have temporary tattoos with a brand new DB logo custom designed by our multi-talented translator rhole. Tattoos are not for sale in our store and will only be available at the convention. So if you see someone who is wearing or carrying a suspicious amount of Dattebayo merchandise, feel free to strike up a conversation. We'd like to meet you!*

Also, if you haven't already done so, we encourage you to fill out our User Poll 2008. To date 67,000 responses have been received, and while that's excellent, we would like to match the approximately 100,000 responses we received for last year's poll. Please participate today and help make DB better!

Update: Interested fans can read an article about the Fansubber and Industry Panel on the Anime News Network here. The article includes a video of the panel.

*Unless you work for Viz Media, in which case, NO DB STAFF MEMBERS WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE AT THE CONVENTION, THANKS.
